I have done quite a few post on Jacob and the things he says and does but I noticed that I hadn't done any on Thomas. So here is a post on Thomas and the things that are going on in his life.
Thomas is in 1st grade for one more week. He has had a wonderful year! He is so looking forward to the summer. We do have some plans but just getting to be home and not have to be somewhere everyday makes him happy. We are wrapping up a great season of baseball. As of right now his team is ranked 1st in the Bryan Little League North division. Whoo-hoo! Go Grasshoppers! We have his team party on the 31st. He is so excited because it is a swim party.
Like I said Thomas has had a great year but his teacher and I talked back at Christmas about his attention and behavior. We agreed that it wasn't time to talk to the doctor yet but she would let me know when the time came. Back in April she asked if we had talked to the doctor yet and I told her no but we are going to the doctor tomorrow for Jacob and I could/would talk then. Well I got the paperwork for me, Eric and Ms. H to fill out. I had it back in within a week so that we could hurry up and get an appointment. They told me the closer to summer it got the harder it would be to get the appointment and I wanted it ASAP! So we got an appointment for our face to face interview and evaluation and it went great. Eric and I are very pleased with the outcome and the course of treatment we are doing. Thomas has been diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety. He is currently on Strattera for his ADHD and the doctor said that it will also help with the anxiety. Strattera is a non-stimulant and is non-addictive. Those were two of our biggest concerns with having to take something. So far he is doing well with the medicine. We are gradually introducing it into his system and we expect to see results within 6 - 8 weeks. He knows and understands why he is taking the meds and doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
Well that is what is going on in Thomas' world in a nutshell.
Lord - Thank you for giving us Thomas to raise and to love. Thank you for giving us a doctor that really took the time to listen and care. Thank you for Thomas not complaining about having to take meds. He is such a sweet, sweet child and I love him more everyday. Please be with us this summer as we go about our plans and as we get ready for 2nd grade. In Your Name - Amen
